Ready to fuel your performance (and more)?

Cam thought he could continue his training program and that his body composition would follow. Olivia thought she was always going to experience digestive discomfort, and she needed to train with it. Edwin thought he couldn’t fill out his weight class without diving into fast food.

They were all wrong.

Having a realistic + sustainable nutrition strategy is the best way to step up your performance.

and i bet you know that already...

Whether you started powerlifting last year or a decade ago, you know deep down that if you spent half the amount of effort into your nutrition than you do in each training session, you’d see progress.

Let's be honest, eating is not the same thing as maximizing your nutrition for performance.

It's ONE part, and even that's hard too.

Kwaku Antwi winning National Powerlifting Competition in 2023

You’ve tried everything (even other coaches).

You’re frustrated, and the only successful routine you’ve developed is hopping on this continuous cycle of starting over and over… and over again.

You know exactly what you need to do.

But you seem to find yourself… not doing it. It sounds so easy. It’s almost annoying. You know you’re capable of so much more.

You want to enjoy food again.

Or at least not obsess over it 24 hours a day. You want to be able to go to a restaurant and enjoy the company, rather than feel stressed out.

And if we're being honest... you know that TEM coaching is exactly what you need right now.

I've been there before.

I thought I could do it all on my own. Anything I needed to know was a Google search away. Hell, I went to pursue an undergraduate degree in nutrition and food. I continued learning more and more about performance nutrition. But knowing something isn’t the same thing as doing it.

Many athletes know exactly what they need to do, but it’s bridging that gap between knowledge and action that often causes athletes to hit a brick wall.

Until you work with THE coach.

With a coach, I added 42.5 kg to my total in less than four months. And with implementing evidence-based nutrition strategies, I increased my maintenance calories from 1800 to 2300 calories in 6 months.

believe me when I say

There is a way forward.

jose atienza, 74 KG CPU powerlifter

"My body composition has significantly improved through different phases of nutrition."

It’s been almost four months since working with Maria, and I was able to improve my body composition and get stronger in my 3 lifts while on a calorie deficit… She increased my understanding of transitions between cutting, bulking and maintenance depending on the training block.

The best part is being able to connect with her through our Filipino culture and our powerlifting goal. See what Jose’s been up to these days.

"My greatest win is being able to lose weight while averaging a higher calorie intake (we're talking 2700 calories vs. the measly 2000 calories)."

I was always under the impression that a calorie deficit was necessary to lose weight, but it wasn’t sustainable—not for me anyway. It hit me when I had to eat 1600 calories to BARELY make weight in the 66 kg. weight class at Worlds 2021. It wasn’t healthy or sustainable.

Maria helped me understand the concept of reverse dieting.

And I’m REAPING the benefits as a now 74 kg. lifter.

I know you're thinking about it

But your head's filling up with these doubts...

And before you know it, you're back to being stuck and it shows in your total.

So let's go through each of those doubts

DOUBT #1

Unless you're preparing my food, nothing will work.

When you think about the greatest powerlifters of all time, do you also imagine personal chefs and butlers at their side? I hate to crush your imagination, but that’s exactly what it is—an imagination. They’ve got something better.

Their own handy-dandy toolbox. And when they encounter a challenge, they know what to do, and if they don’t, they have the resources and skills to get it.

That’s what you get with coaching: your own personal toolbox. So you can prepare your own food, happily.

DOUBT #2

It's too early for me. I'm far too new to the sport, and I haven't done any weight cuts or bulking.

We all walk into this sport with some perspective of nutrition, and sometimes it can be productive. But usually, somewhere along the way, we start hearing some form of bro-science at the rack. And it gets bumpy from there. It’s never too early to start – if anything, the earlier, the better.

Nicholas Farrales competing in National Powerlifting Championships in 2023

DOUBT #3

I already know what to do, so I'd rather not invest in what I can do on my own.

And it all boils down to the question, “Have you done it?” Knowing and doing isn’t the same thing. And doing and achieving isn’t the same thing either. Think about it. Coaching doesn’t mean that I’ll be doing things FOR you. It means that I’ll be GUIDING you to do it on your own terms.

Olivia USPA Powerlifter

DOUBT #4

I don't want to develop an eating disorder from tracking my food intake.

An eating disorder is multifactorial, and there have been research studies that actually disprove this statement. But I understand where it comes from – and what we need to remind ourselves is tracking food intake is a tool. When used appropriately, it can produce amazing outcomes.

DOUBT #5

I'm not competitive enough (or at all).

What if you could be?

You don't need to imagine the possibility.

Be the athlete you want to become.

Establish Your Foundation

STAGE ONE (0-6 MONTHS)

This isn’t about learning the science about each macronutrient and how food behaves under various cooking methods. It’s about setting up a strong ground for your nutrition through a tested onboarding process. This is when we’ll learn about the ins and outs of your nutrition and your true relationship with food. This is when the mental barriers become identifiable, and we’re able to notice significant patterns in our choices.

And once your foundation is built, we’re only going up from here.

Amplify Your Strengths

STAGE two (+4 MONTHS)

At this point, we’ve rounded up several protocols that work with and against you. We want to use that information to get you to the next stage by amplifying your strengths and minimizing your weak points (it’s okay; we all have some).

This is where you get to find out HOW to use the information you’ve learned about yourself. This is the bridge that connects you to the athlete you want to become.

Thrive in Your Environment

STAGE three (8+ MONTHS)

Each stage carries wins we’ll all appreciate, but this stage… is where athletes’ accumulated wins show up to people they’ve never even met. We’re talking about those tiny changes throughout our day, and when we look back, we’re a little freaked out about how much has really changed.

Instead of stressing about counting macros at the next party, you’re excited about it and no longer calling it a challenge. Instead of needing every minute of your meet day accounted for, you’re comfortable listening to your body.

It’s a wild stage.

Cam Li winning 66 kg. national title in the Canadian powerlifting competition

CAMRON LI, 66 KG CPU NATIONAL CHAMPION 2021

"I've put on some good muscle by tracking macros. Lifestyle-wise, I've been feeling more energized and motivated."

Before TEM, I was really lost diet-wise. I didn’t know how to track and what food did to my body. Maria has taught me many things since then. My knowledge now spans from refeeds after short-term weight-cutting strategies (i.e. water loads) to differences between food in their effects on performance. I truly owe my successes to her. And all I can say is thank you.

Alicia Cheung competing at the Band of Barbells Classic Powerlifting Competition

Alicia Cheung, 47 kg CPU POWERLIFTER

"I was able to develop a healthy relationship with food and nutrition, maintain a competitive bodyweight for my weight class, and build healthy habits around nutrition."

Maria is a phenomenal nutrition coach if you’re a powerlifter looking to take your training and nutrition to the next level. Maria is goal- and action-oriented, and her protocols are always tied back to the athlete’s goals. She makes sure that we, as athletes, understand the “why” behind the protocol and are equipped with the resources and tools we need to succeed.

Kwaku Antwi winning National Powerlifting Competition in 2023

Kwaku Antwi, 93 KG CPU TEAM CANADA

"I have way less panic than previously (regarding making weight), I have a much more objective than subjective view to gaining or losing weight."

Maria has helped me lose roughly a total of 10 kg. of body weight while getting stronger. While doing so, Maria has made making weight for competition seamless and improved my overall relationship with food. If you’re looking to properly fuel for performance or even just improve your view of nutrition, I highly recommend TEM.

FAQ

You've got questions? I have answers!

If you can’t find your question below, head to the Contact page.

Not at the moment. I have had athletes with health insurance that cover a wide range of health and fitness fees (i.e. health care spending account). In that case, you can attempt to claim it manually by sending your insurance provider a copy of the invoice (always available to you in the client portal).

To be completely transparent, I cannot guarantee results because it is completely up to you to listen and implement the strategies discussed. Coaching is a collaborative approach to moving forward productively. I also do not offer refunds because work does begin (and doesn’t stop) as soon as athletes are onboarded.

I run promotions throughout the year, especially at powerlifting competitions for the competing athletes. To receive those notifications, make sure you’re following me on Instagram and have subscribed to the newsletter (at the bottom of the page).

You’re not looking for a coach. You’re looking for a calculator. This a friendly reminder that nutrition runs deeper than calories and macros. The successful athletes you’ve seen on the platform are doing more than reaching their nutrient targets.

I cannot provide an accurate timeline for anyone (even my current athletes included).  But I will say that results take time and patience. It’s a process more than it is the outcome.

I won’t speak for other coaches; however, you’ll find that many TEM athletes will tell you that TEM provides flexibility in nutrition programs while instilling a commitment to the big goals. TEM considers factors that profoundly affect nutrition, such as mindset and attitude. TEM is the next level to your regular macro-coach.
